The Association for Healthcare Resource &Materials Management (AHRMM) of the American Hospital Association will present a workshop and breakout session on the association’s Cost, Quality, and Outcomes (CQO) Movement at the upcoming GHX Healthcare Supply Chain Summit, to be held May 20-22 in Las Vegas. Launched in January, the CQO Movement will help to shape the future of the healthcare supply chain by preparing those working in the field to be the experts in the correlation between cost, quality and outcomes. Attracting well over 700 representatives of healthcare providers and manufacturers, the GHX Healthcare Supply Chain Summit is focused on increasing collaboration and visibility across the supply chain to improve efficiencies, quality of care, and reduce costs.
With the transformation of the healthcare delivery system, hospitals and healthcare systems understanding total costs (cost of ownership of supplies, cost of procedures, costs to deliver care) and total quality (quality of care and the patient experience) is even more critical since it can determine reimbursement levels and reflects providers’ability to deliver value-based healthcare across the continuum. Supply chain is particularly well-suited to assume a leadership role in this area, as it crosses not only functional (clinical, financial and operational) boundaries within hospitals and health systems, but also with the suppliers of the products used in patient care.
Christopher O’Connor, AHRMM chair-elect and President, GNYHA Services, Inc., will present a
half-day workshop on Monday, May 20, entitled “Transforming the Supply Chain: Owning the Intersection of Cost, Quality, and Outcomes.”The workshop will include case studies and break-out sessions for providers and suppliers to engage in discussion over the clinical and financial data, metrics, and process improvements needed to ensure supply chain is approaching operations and management from a CQO perspective, and bringing ultimate value across the continuum of care. On Tuesday, May 21, John Willi, AHRMM board member and Senior Director, Supply Chain Management Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Inc. will present “Leading from the Intersection of Cost, Quality, and Outcomes.”The session will explore the CQO Supply Chain Movement and share supply chain strategies and best practices on how to achieve success in the emerging healthcare landscape.
